Giving Insight
Designing a brand that makes complex data feel accessible, trustworthy, and human.
Giving Insight helps nonprofit organizations close the data gap — giving them access to the tools and insights that were previously only available to larger, better-resourced organizations. As the platform grew, they needed a brand that could signal credibility and warmth to nonprofits of all sizes: 'we built this for you, and we understand your world.'
Starting with brand architecture and strategy, I developed a complete visual identity system grounded in warmth, clarity, and equity — with photography guidelines that defaulted to diversity and represented real people in real spaces.
From there, I designed the full website — including a Resource Hub built to help nonprofits navigate Giving Insight's tools and services easily, regardless of their staff's technical comfort level.
Giving Insight now has a brand that can sit comfortably in any nonprofit context — from a community org in rural towns to national advocacy networks. The visual system and website communicate a simple, essential message: we're here to help, we're trustworthy, and the data and access is for you.
Part of designing brand guidelines was choosing images that portray all individuals, always respecting diversity as default. Photographs represent real-life situations in real-life spaces.
To set Giving Insight apart, it was determined to set the tone through a clear, welcoming and warm graphic systems to represent what the organization does best: close the data gap for organizations of all sizes.
The need for a Resource Hub was discovered through strategic frameworks and we designed it to give free access to visitors.
